Solid Gold Berjangka – U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that he will not launch a military strike against Iran in the near future. Trump stated that "there will be no attack today," easing concerns regarding a potential direct escalation between Washington and Tehran.
Previously, Trump suggested that the U.S. could either take tougher action or opt to reach an agreement with Iran. This statement comes amid growing threats to American interests in the Middle East, including those posed by Iran and the Houthi group.
From the Iranian side, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf remarked that the United States has found itself in a difficult position due to miscalculations in the conflict. He noted that Washington needs to take steps to move beyond the ongoing, protracted tensions.
Although relations between the two nations remain strained, Iran has emphasized that the path of diplomacy is not entirely closed. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that messages are still being conveyed to the U.S. through intermediaries, even though negotiations have been at a standstill for several weeks.
These developments indicate that while the risk of conflict remains high, a window for diplomacy stays open. If communication between the U.S. and Iran improves, geopolitical pressure in the Middle East could subside. Conversely, a failure to reach an agreement could further escalate tensions and trigger volatility in oil markets and "safe-haven" assets. (srh)
